If You Need To Open a Swiss Bank Account
I admit that I'm something of an alarmist when it comes to financial matters. I have an almost irrational fear of losing all my money or having it seized by the government. I am not too keen on keeping my savings in American banks anymore because it seems that I'm always reading about hackers compromising customer data at one financial institution or another, and I certainly don't want to keep my money in my own home because that would just add to my constant worry. Instead, I think I should open a Swiss bank account.
I never thought I'd be a candidate to open a Swiss bank account because that's something that I usually associate with super-rich business moguls or celebrities. But after doing a lot of research into protecting my financial assets, it seems the best move for me is to open a Swiss bank account. Unlike most banks in the United States, banks in Switzerland operate under very strict guidelines regarding privacy. For example, no one is allowed to access information about any of the accounts without personal authorization from the account holder. Plus, banks in Switzerland take security very seriously and do everything in their power to protect their customers' data.
At first, I thought it might be difficult to open a Swiss bank account. I thought I would be required to appear in person to do it or that I would have to make a very high initial deposit. But neither of those speculations turned out to be true. After checking around on the Internet, I found out that there are several websites that offer step-by-step guides on how to open a Swiss bank account. It seems that people can open a Swiss bank account by corresponding with their chosen financial institution via postal mail, e-mail, or telephone, and then submitting the initial deposit by wire transfer.
I noticed that there were a couple of websites run by companies that claimed to act as intermediaries between customers and banks in Switzerland to help customers open a Swiss bank account. I don't know if those kinds of companies are on the up and up, but I would never, ever send my money to anyone that I hadn't investigated thoroughly -- and I advise you to approach online banking with a similar degree of caution.
Now that I've taken steps to open a Swiss bank account of my own, I feel much more at ease about my financial security. I know the banking industry in Switzerland is stable and my money will be very safe over there. I'm able to sleep better at night knowing that no one will ever be able to touch my savings without my consent.
